Tarakeshwar Picnic Spot
Tarakeshwar Picnic Spot is close to Tarakeshwar Temple in Kathmandu, and you can get there from Pach-manae. It’s in the middle of a dense forest, away from pollution. To reach the spot, you have to walk for about 25-30 minutes from Pach-manae. After leaving the main road from Machapokhari to Trishuli in Pach-manae, you enter a village and then walk into a forest. Utensils for the picnic are provided by Shree Nath Baba, but cooking meat items in these utensils is not allowed and cheating might lead to consequences.
Once, a person named Madhav from the nearby village cooked chicken using the utensils given by Shreenath Baba. A few days later, he experienced a severe stomach ache, and realizing the cause, he went to Shreenath Baba. Madhav apologized, and after seeking forgiveness, he found relief from his suffering. Shree Nath Baba lives in a kuti near Tarakeshwar Mahadev Temple, above the picnic spot near Tarakeshwar Mahadev temple.
One can cook vegetarian food there. There is 24 24-hour water facility, flowing from the jungle but there might not be electricity and proper toilets. It’s a forest, so there’s only an open toilet in the jungle. It’s not a very popular picnic spot, but it’s free from pollution inside the jungle. Only a few picnics are organized here, and sometimes there might not be any humans around.
It is advised to visit this place with groups only as sometimes wild animals are also spotted here. It’s not advisable for girls to travel solo or in small groups in this place. Sometimes you may not find a single human along the way after entering the jungle until you reach the Tarakeshwar temple. There might be crowds during festivals like Shivaratri and Janaipurnima. There’s an army barrack near the temple.

Tribhuwan Park picnic spot
Tribhuvan Park is a popular picnic spot which is located approximately 6 kilometers from Kalanki in Thankot, Kathmandu. It is a big park that has 31 different spots for picnics and plenty of space to play and dance. This park was built in the name of King Tribhuvan in 1972.

Karya Binayak picnic spot is located 13 kilometers south of Kathmandu in Bungamati, Lalitpur District. This temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesh, devotees visit this temple before starting work to wish for their success and it is believed worshiping in this temple brings success in life.

Lakuri Bhanjyang picnic spot
