Godawari Botanical Garden

Godawari Botanical Garden is located at the foot of Phulchoki in the southern part of Lalitpur. It is officially known as the National Botanical Garden, established in 1962 A.D. (2019 B.S.). Godawari Botanical Garden was designed by two British designers G.A.C. Herklots and Tony Schilling. The Royal Botanical Garden over 82 hectares of land is a major attraction of this place.

In the garden, you can find all sorts of plants, from big trees to tiny flowers, more than 500 species of plants can be found here. Visitors can walk around the garden on pathways and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Many people bring their families to relax. It is the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of nature along with bird watching.

PIA Memorial Park

PIA Memorial Park is located in Lele Valley, Lalitpur. This memorial park stands as a testament to the tragic and unforgettable event of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Flight 268 crash that occurred on September 28, 1992. The crash claimed the lives of all 167 passengers and crew on board.

In remembrance of the lives lost by this event, the PIA Memorial Park was established. Now, the park is like a peaceful garden. It has trees, paths, and a special monument in the middle. On this monument, there are names of all the people who were on the plane. It is 12 km from Lagankhel bus park.

Shankhamul Park

Shankhamul Park was built by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRN) on the banks of the Bagmati River in Shankhamul, Lalitpur. Once upon a time, Shankhamul Ghat on the Bagmati banks was full of bushes and garbage. Addicts used to gather in this bushy area for taking drugs.

There are flower gardens, small ponds, and resting places. It is the place is perfect for relaxation and morning walks. The park is spread over 32 ropani. Shankhamul is the confluence of three rivers Bagmati, Manimati, and Rudramati. It is considered a holy place.

United Nations Park

United Nations Park is located in Jwagal, Lalitpur. It is on the bank of the Bagmati River. This park is also known as UN Park, covered with different types of trees. The total area covered by this park is 1,576 ropanis of land from the Shankhamul Ghat to the Teku Dobhan.

There is a playground inside the park and many resting places. It is a nice place for meetups, playing games, yoga, and exercise. It is a bit crowded during the morning and evening. There is free entry inside the park and there you’ll find a washroom too.
