Annapurna Base Camp or ABC Trek is one of the most adventurous and exciting treks you can experience. This trek is suitable for experienced trekkers and first-timers too. ABC Trek should be on your list because of several reasons.
Most of the treks in Nepal are long, difficult, and expensive. Even if you want to go for an adventurous trek, you might not be able to take a leave of about 16-17 days. But the ABC trek is such a trek that can be completed in 6-7 days and this trek is equally adventurous and thrilling as other treks.
In Nepal, the treks are mostly in barren landscapes but the ABC trek is the only trek that is forested. Trekkers will walk through a dense forest full of beautiful rhododendrons, bamboo, the Modi River, and gorges. Sometimes you only hear the sound of the river flowing, you see some vegetation you’ve never seen. The sights are astounding. So, the ABC trek is more than just a mountain view.
People with average fitness levels can also complete this trek with ease. The trek can be categorized as moderately difficult. There are lots of ups and downs during the treks but if you choose the route wisely and don’t rush, you won’t have any problem. But do prepare yourself before going for trekking because you have to walk a lot. After all, it’s trekking to the mountain base.
The suitable time to go for the ABC trek is March-May and October-December. At this time, the weather is suitable for trekking and the mountain view is spectacular. Not only Annapurna massif but Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Mountain is also visible from ABC. The peak has a fishtail shape and is jaw-droppingly beautiful. Many other mountains are also visible so it’s a worthy trek.
There’s a thick settlement of Gurung people in the Annapurna region. You will get to experience the typical Nepali ethnic culture, traditional lifestyle, food, and hospitality of Gurung people. Agriculture and animal husbandry are the sources of income for most of the locals. You will love the green and tranquil village, far from the busy cities.
If you take a route from Jhinu Danda, then you’ll get an exotic experience there. You can have the privilege of bathing in the natural hot springs which is one of the trekker’s attractive features of this place. Give your body muscles some rest, relax, and soak out all the exhaustion in the hot spring. You will surely celebrate that wonderful feeling for a long time.
